Techsters, Tigers set to tangle Tuesday at the TAC

Nov 30, 2009 | General News

The only two undefeated women’s basketball teams in the state of Louisiana will clash Tuesday night as Louisiana Tech hosts 7th-ranked LSU at 7 p.m. at the Thomas Assembly Center.

Head coach Teresa Weatherspoon’s Lady Techsters are a perfect 3-0 on the season while Van Chancellor and Co. bring a 5-0 mark into the contest – which has been selected as the NCAA “Pack the House” Challenge game for LA Tech.

The “Pack the House” Challenge is an NCAA sponsored national competition where Division I member schools compete to increase attendance figures, gain national exposure, win great prizes and grow the sport of women’s basketball.

LA Tech has been the Western Athletic Conference winner of this competition the past two years and numerous promotions have been planned surrounding this year’s game against LSU as the athletic department looks for a three-peat in the event.

The slogan for this year’s game is “Cage the Tigers” while the theme for the night is Circus Circus. Free tailgating outside the Thomas Assembly Center will begin at 5:30 p.m. as area business, student organizations and families are encouraged to set up and enjoy the pregame food festivities.

Tailgating will include free food and numerous giveaways while the Bindlestiff Family Circus will also perform (at tailgating and halftime) numerous acts, including fire-eating, sword-swallowing, acrobatics, juggling, whip cracking and more.

Members of the Barak Shrine Temple will also be participating in the pre-game and halftime festivities as they will be in uniform as well as providing a number of Shriner clowns from the Barak Shrine circus.

A special exhibit of animals from the Louisiana Purchase Gardens and Zoo will also be part of the pregame tailgating festivities.

LA Tech is offering a special 5 for $25 ticket promotion for any fans that purchase their tickets at www.ticketmaster.com.
