Casey Ardoin, a senior journalism major from Pineville, will serve as the winter editor in chief of Louisiana Tech’s student-run newspaper, The Tech Talk. Lance Traweek, a junior journalism and political science major from Monroe, will serve as associate editor.

Ardoin has served in a variety of capacities on the campus newspaper previously, including reporter, news editor, associate managing editor, managing editor and associate editor. She also has interned at The Monroe News-Star and The Forum News Weekly and CityLife in Shreveport.

“The reporters have improved in the year, and I’m looking forward to the rest of the quarter,” Ardoin said. “I think we have a strong editorial staff, and this quarter, we can build upon past papers and take The Tech Talk to the next level.”

Traweek has worked as reporter, online editor, news editor, associate managing editor and managing editor on The Tech Talk and has also interned at The Monroe News-Star. He has worked as a press intern with Congressman Rodney Alexander, R-Quitman. He currently freelances for The News-Star.

“We are proud of this group,” said Dr. Reginald Owens, acting head of the journalism department. “This quarter’s editorial team is an energetic and creative group of students who are not afraid to think outside of the box. They have worked hard to get these top positions at the newspaper. Expect to see some innovative changes in The Tech Talk.”

The first winter quarter paper came out Thursday, Dec. 10 and is available online at www.thetechtalk.org. Updates can also be found at www.twitter.com/thetechtalk.
