Jan 14, 2010 | General News

Louisiana Tech’s School of Performing Arts will present the second annual Double Reed Day from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30.

The event is open and free to all double reed players. The day will feature classes on fundamentals and musicality, a faculty recital, and a rehearsal and performance by all oboists and bassoonists in a mass double reed ensemble.

Kristin Polk, an assistant professor of music, is hosting the Double Reed Day. Jennifer Sadoff Auerbach, a 2005-2006 Fulbright award winner who studied in Vienna, will serve as guest artist and clinician. Other guest clinicians will include John Goss, an oboist who teaches woodwind sectionals in the Monroe area and is a freelance musician and composer, and Dan Phillips, a bassoonist who teaches at Centenary in Shreveport and is band director at Good Hope Middle School.

For more information about the day’s events, contact Polk at (318) 257-5471 or at kmpolk@latech.edu.
