Faculty members seek students for math organization

Feb 4, 2010 | General News

Members of Louisiana Tech’s faculty have scheduled an introductory meeting for students interested in establishing a student chapter of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics.

Students who participate will have the opportunity to be founding members of a new chapter and active participants in an organization involved both in teaching and promoting mathematical knowledge.

NCTM is not just for mathematics teachers. Anyone interested in math education can participate. The organization provides many benefits to students and teachers with opportunities for professional growth for members.

The introductory meeting will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9 in Woodard Hall, Room 207. For more information, contact Dr. Terrie Poehl, an associate professor in the College of Education, at (318) 257-2374.
