Area bank president to speak at Tech's winter commencement

Drake Mills, president and CEO of Community Trust Bank, is slated to be the keynote speaker for Louisiana Tech’s winter graduation ceremony.

Mills, of Ruston, was named as the 2009 Alumnus of the Year. He serves on membership boards for the Boys and Girls Club of North Central Louisiana, United Way of Northeast Louisiana, Louisiana Bankers Association, Northeast Louisiana Economic Development Corporation and several others.

Mills graduated from Tech in 1982 with a bachelor’s in finance and continued his education at Louisiana State University at the Graduate School of Banking of the South and also received his Professional Master of Banking.

Before being named CEO and president of CTB, Mills also worked as a life underwriter for New York Life Insurance Company in Ruston.

Winter commencement will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 6 at the Thomas Assembly Center.
