The Association of Indian Students is hosting its annual cultural event, India Nite, at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, April 18 in Louisiana Tech’s Student Center, Main Floor.
Bijoya Chakraborty, coordinator of the International Student Office, said this is an event for students and the local community to gain a better understanding of India’s culture.
“India Nite is about experiencing India in Ruston, with entertainment, music, food and culture being the main focus of the night,” she said.
Chakraborty said she feels India Nite is an important event because it showcases the true India.
“I hope students and the community leave with an appreciation for India and the Indian students here in Ruston,” she said. “They are hosting this event to share part of their culture and their heritage to the Tech community.”
Tickets are currently on sale in the International Student Office and are $7 for students and $12 for non-students.
The International Student Association is also hosting International Day at 4 p.m., Tuesday, April 27 in the Student Center, Main Floor.
Chakraborty said the community can taste different dishes from all around the world.
“You can sample food from countries as far as Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Turkey, Germany and many other countries,” she said.
This event is free for everyone, but food coupons will be on sale at the door for 50 cents. There will also be a raffle and tickets will be $1 a piece.
