Seven women from Louisiana Tech will compete later this month in the Miss Louisiana pageant.
“We have some really talented ladies,” said Ashley Taylor, coordinator of student development. “I thought it was big last year, and this year we have more.”
Those from Tech competing in the Miss Louisiana pageant, which will be held Saturday, June 26, are as follows:
* Miss Tech Jenny Russell, of Natchitoches, a senior interior design major;
* Miss Louisiana Port City Rebecca Price, of Bossier City, a junior kinesiology major;
* Miss Dixie Gem Peach 2010 Lauren Abshier, of Monroe, a senior psychology major who was also Miss Tech 2009;
* Miss La Bonne Terre Meagan Lee, of Rayville, an incoming freshman English major;
* Miss Spirit of Caddo Tori Close, of Alexandria, a junior speech education major;
* Miss Louisiana Stockshow Festival Lauren Vizza, of Shreveport, a sophomore history major; and
* Miss North Louisiana Bayou Nicole Fairburn, of Covington, who graduated winter 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in finance.
Last year, six students from Tech competed in the pageant. Taylor said this is not the first time in the state pageant for four of the girls. This is Russell and Abshier’s third time to compete in Miss Louisiana. It will be the second time for Price and Fairburn and the first for Close, Vizza and Lee.
