Marketing, business professor receives prestigious national award

Dr. Barry J. Babin, chair of the department of marketing and analysis and the Max P. Watson professor of business at Louisiana Tech University, has received the prestigious Harold W. Berkman Service Award from the Academy of Marketing Science.
This award was established in 2005 and is given to an individual for distinguished long-time service to the Academy of Marketing Science and the marketing discipline.  The award was created to honor Berkman, who is the founder of the Academy of Marketing Science (AMS) as well as the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science.
Babin is respected for his research in the area of consumer and employee interface within the exchange environment.  His research has appeared in the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, the Journal of Marketing, the Journal of Retailing, the Journal of Consumer Research, and many other places.
In addition to his research, Babin has co-authored several books and engages in consulting and teaching activities centered around consumer research approaches, creativity and problem solving.
Babin is the immediate past-president of the Academy of Marketing Sciences and the MAS co-director of international programs.  He has previously served the AMS as vice president of programs and annual conference co-chair and is the 2011 AMS WMC (Reims) program co-chair.  He is recognized as a Distinguished Fellow of the Society for Marketing Advances.
Babin received his doctorate from Louisiana State University, master’s degree from the University of Central Florida and bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University.
