Student Nurse Association receives awards, honors at state convention
Members from Louisiana Tech’s Student Nurse Association attended the Louisiana Association of Student Nurses Convention held recently in Shreveport and came home with awards and a member being named vice president of the state SNA.
Tech SNA officers Lindsey Punchard, president, from Farmerville; Janey Gaston, vice president, from Stonewall; Rachel Spillers, secretary, from Choudrant; and Jessica Barnes, treasurer, from Choudrant, attended business meetings while other nursing students listened to focus sessions and keynote addresses. Tech’s SNA faculty advisers Tanya Sims, Paula Books, Beth Fife and Lucy Douglas were also in attendance.
Tech SNA member Sharee Encalade, of Harvey, ran for vice president and received the designation, and Emily Connella, of Shreveport, ran for state treasurer of SNA.
In addition, the group won second place for Best Presentation SNA Activities in a Scrapbook and received third place for Most Creative Scrapbook. Punchard received the Financial Need Scholarship.
