Tech celebrates Women’s History Month
As March is Women’s History Month, the Louisiana Tech department of history has joined with the Phi Alpha Theta history honor society and the Association of Women Students to coordinate a month’s worth of events.
Dr. Laurie S. Stoff, an assistant professor of history, said the purpose of Women’s History Month is to “highlight the accomplishments of women throughout history.”
The month’s events include several special lectures by noted scholars on various facets of women’s history, films focusing on women’s experiences past and present, and a research paper competition on topics concerning women, open to undergraduate students in every discipline written in any class at Tech between April 2010 and March 2011.
All of the Women’s History Month events are free and open to the public and are listed below.

“How Do We ‘Know’ Muslim Women?” by Dr. Lamia Ben Youssef Zayzafoon, from University of Alabama at Birmingham
