In honor of Women’s History Month, Louisiana Tech’s department of history and the Lambda-Rho chapter of Phi Alpha Theta history honor society have announced a research paper competition on topics related to women in history.
The competition is open to all undergraduate students at Louisiana Tech. Eligible papers can come from any class taken at the university, including supervised independent study projects and senior theses written between April 2010 and March 2011.
Cash prizes will be awarded to the three best papers. The winning paper will receive $100; second prize will be $75, and third prize will receive $50.
There is no minimum or maximum length for the entries, but papers must deal with a topic related to women in history. They must be the student’s original work and include proper citation of sources.
A panel of faculty members from Tech will serve as judges.
Deadline for entries is Thursday, March 31. Papers must be submitted electronically in MS Word format to history@latech.edu. Entries must include the author’s contact information, major, the class in which the paper was written and the quarter in which it was written.
