Forestry honor society initiates new members
Nine Louisiana Tech students in the School of Forestry were initiated into Xi Sigma Pi National Forestry Honor Society.
Xi Sigma Pi members strive to secure and maintain a high standard of scholarship in forestry education, to work for the improvement of the profession and to promote fellowship of those involved in the field of forestry. Membership is by invitation to students demonstrating superior scholarship (3.0 grade point average or greater and at least 60 hours of earned credit), leadership and dedicated service to the profession.
New student initiates into the honor society were:

- James Eppinette II, a senior wildlife habitat management major from Bastrop
- Michael Guilbeaux, a senior wildlife habitat management major from Mansfield
- Luke Johnston, a senior forestry major from Calhoun
- Zeb Kile, a junior forestry major from Winnfield
- Corey May, a senior forestry major from West Monroe
- Steven McCarthy, a senior forestry major from Jonesville
- Rebecca Patrick, a junior wildlife habitat management major from Lake Providence
- Joshua Price, a senior forestry major from Ringgold
- Samuel Strozier, a junior wildlife habitat management major from Jonesboro
Also, Guilbeaux was the winner of the plaque contest. Xi Sigma Pi initiates create a plaque using wood, Greek letters, numbers and a School of Forestry sticker. Xi Sigma Pi members who attend the banquet look over the plaques and vote on the best.
