Shaping the 21st Century continues with two events week of April 11-15

Louisiana Tech’s quarter-long Shaping the 21st Century: Focus on the Middle East series will continue this week with a film screening Tuesday, April 12 and an exhibit opening Wednesday, April 13.
“The Band’s Visit,” an award-winning Israeli film directed by Eran Kolirin, will be shown at 6:30 p.m. in Wyly Tower Auditorium. The comedy follows a musical band composed of members of the Egyptian police force that head to Israel to play at the inaugural ceremony of an Arab arts center, only get lost in the wrong town.
The film will be introduced by Dr. Edward Jacobs, dean of the College of Liberal Arts. A short discussion will follow the film.
On the next day, April 13, a public exhibit of recent images of the urban growth taking place in the United Arab Emirates will be displayed along the west hallway in Tolliver Hall. “The Middle East’s Instant Manhattan: Images of the Amazing Architectural Growth of Dubai, United Arab Emirates”will open at 4 p.m. with Bill Willoughby, associate dean of Liberal Arts and curator of the exhibit, available to answer any questions.
The exhibit will remain up until May 11.
