First ‘Mama Mac’ scholarship recipient chosen

Louisiana Tech senior nursing major Hillary Crymes has been chosen as the first recipient of the Myrtle “Mama Mac” McElduff Memorial Nursing Scholarship.
Crymes, of West Monroe, was selected by the Division of Nursing Scholarship Committee at Tech and was awarded $1,500.
The scholarship was organized by the family of the late Myrtle Lean Kelly McElduff as a tribute to their “Mama Mac,” who served as a campus health nurse at Tech’s infirmary in the ‘60s and ‘70s.
The scholarship will be awarded annually. Scholarship applicants must be enrolled in nursing courses at the Nursing 114 level or above and maintain a 2.0 GPA. In addition, the student must successfully complete the nursing course in which he or she is enrolled at the time of the application and in which the award is received.
