Louisiana Tech’s School of Art will feature the work of professional artists’ Liz Miller and Stephen Eakin.
Exhibitions will take place Sept. 22 through Oct. 25 at the School of Art Galleries, 1 Mayfield St.
Miller’s mixed-media installations and drawings from her “Capricious Eradication Prototype” series will be displayed in the Main Gallery, and Eakin’s video, film, installation and sculptural pieces from his “Remains” series will be displayed in the Bellocq Gallery.
Miller’s work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions both nationally and internationally.
“My mixed media installations and drawings re-contextualize simplified shapes, signs and symbols from disparate historical and contemporary imagery to create abstract fictions,” she said.

Eakin’s work is also featured throughout the United States in Minneapolis, Nevada, California, New York City and Texas, as well as internationally in Greece and Canada. He is working with the Brooklyn-based arts collective Non Solo.
“I mine and remove things from personal history and familial narrative,” he said. “I subsequently place them in a setting that redefines them as precious relics, art objects or both.”
Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, with extended hours for artist talks and receptions.
Miller is scheduled to speak at 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22 in the Main Gallery, and a reception will follow at 6 p.m. Eakin will speak at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11 via Skype in the Bellocq Gallery.
