New English professor interviewed by New York radio station
New York radio station WFUV recently broadcast an interview with new Tech assistant professor of English Scott Levin, exploring his choices for creating a course called “Rock, Rap and the Poetic Tradition.” He was asked what it was like bringing popular culture and contemporary music into the classroom.
Levin came to Tech from Fordham University in New York City where he completed his Ph.D. and worked as a post-doctoral fellow. His specialty is 19th century British poetry and literary theory.
WFUV’s “Fordham Conversations: Rock, Rap and the Poetic Tradition” is a 30-minute interview with Levin. It explored how he compared the poetry of writers such as William Blake, Langston Hughes and T.S. Eliot with musicians such as Nirvana, Eminem and Bob Dylan.
