Percussion takes lead at Faculty Concert Series
Gregory Lyons, an assistant professor of music at Louisiana Tech, will kick off the Faculty Concert Series Tuesday, Oct. 4.
Lyons will perform with Michael Holdiness, a percussion musician and educator from Monroe. The two will perform on a variety of instruments, including Cuban congas, American drum sets, Chinese opera gongs and Turkish finger cymbals. The program will also feature a solo work for marimba written by a French composer but inspired by the music of Argentine tango composer and performer Astor Piazzolla.
The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Howard Auditorium and is free and open to the public.
