ExxonMobil Corporation presented a check for $24,000 to Dr. Stan Napper, dean of Louisiana Tech University’s College of Engineering and Science, as part of the company’s academic grants to colleges and universities throughout the country.
College departments singled out for funding include:

• Civil Engineering: $1,000
• Chemical Engineering: $9,000
• Mechanical Engineering: $8,000
• Electrical Engineering: $3,000
• Computer Science: $1,500
• Computer Information Systems: $1,500

Napper said these funds are vitally important to the College’s success. “The grants allow the departments to allocate money for various educational purposes including scholarships, field trips, visiting speakers, equipment purchases and student and faculty travel.”
Truman Bell, senior program officer for Education and Diversity for ExxonMobil agrees.  “Supporting higher education has always been a strong priority for ExxonMobil.  This program enables us to provide funding to colleges and universities who play a pivotal role in preparing students to enter the workforce.  We are proud to provide support to Louisiana Tech University.”
The College of Engineering and Science is one of 14 universities affiliated with the National Academy of Engineering (through its Center for the Advancement of Scholarship on Engineering Education.)
