Tech Lagniappe, ‘on the RISE,’ featured among best of 2010

The 2010 Louisiana Tech yearbook staff was featured among best of 2010 in the 25th edition of “2011 YearbookYearbook” by its publisher, Balfour Yearbooks.
“In an age when books are awash in color, Louisiana Tech’s black and white opening captures readers’ attention and directs them to the message, ‘on the Rise,’” was a comment made in Balfour’s “2011 YearbookYearbook.”
Tech 2010’s Lagniappe was recognized for its monochromatic theme pages. Less than five percent of Balfour’s customers were recognized with “Best” honors. It was evaluated in areas such as layout and cover design, photo content, and overall theme.
Mary Brown, yearbook adviser at the time, said student editor Kevin Allen came up the idea for the theme at a workshop, and the theme was chosen at a time where Tech was under a lot of construction, thus “on the RISE,” even in a hurting economy.
She said the idea was that “even though we are in a poor economy, we are still moving forward.”
Mary Scoggins, “YearbookYearbook” editor, said this is the highest honor a yearbook can receive and is the result of corporate judging at Balfour.
“It is not to be taken lightly,” Scoggins said. “It is an honor.”
