Tech’s Hankins completes research fellowship at Shakespeare library
The prestigious Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, D.C., was home away from home this summer for Louisiana Tech associate professor of history Jeffery R. Hankins.
Dr. Hankins recently completed a six-week residence at the Folger, thanks to a Short-Term Research Fellowship awarded by the library.
Access to the Folger collection’s rich holdings of printed and manuscript materials from early modern England enabled Dr. Hankins to complete an important phase of current research project, “Dangerous Days of Religious Refugees.” The project focuses on the immigrant and refugee experience for French and Dutch Protestants who sought religious freedom in England during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.
A member of the Tech faculty since 2004, Jeffery R. Hankins holds his bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas, his master’s from Texas State University, and his Ph.D. from Louisiana State University. A specialist in British history, early modern European history and early American history, he has authored numerous specialized articles and conference papers. Hankins recently finished a term as president of Louisiana Tech’s University Senate.
