Art associate professor's work displayed in Connecticut
Marie Bukowski, an associate professor of art, will have her work featured in the “Boundless: New Works in Contemporary Printmaking” exhibition.
Bukowski was one of over 130 artists to submit their work. Over 400 works were submitted, but just 45 were selected.
She said she entered her artwork in a national call for entries by the Creative Arts Workshop. The director sent an email to inform her that her works were selected.
“This was a nice surprise to get into this show,” Bukowski said. “The juror of the exhibition is the founder of the International Print Center New York, the first and only non-profit institution devoted solely to the exhibition and understanding of fine art prints. For this reason, it meant more to be to be part of this show.”
Bukowski said mathematics and scientific phenomena inspire her works.
“There are many detailed ways in which art and beauty appear in mathematics, and some of these can be appreciated by the general public.,” she said. “To include math into art is a constant challenge. I always wanted to be a mathematician, too, because I love the magic of it.”
Bukowski’s works will be on display May 28 through June 22 at the Creative Arts Workshop in New Haven, Conn.
