Fulbright teaching assistant to teach French at Tech
Louisiana Tech will host a Fulbright teaching assistant from France for the upcoming school year.
The Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Program selected Tech to host Aurelia Pradel, a graduate of Rennes University, as a teaching assistant. Pradel will teach French 101 this fall at Tech. She will also teach sections of French 101 and 102 in the winter and spring quarters.
“We are honored to have been selected to host this energetic young scholar who will be helping us expand our course offerings in French,” said Dr. Susan Roach, director of the School of Literature and Language. “Her outgoing personality and knowledge about her native language and culture should make her French courses interesting and authentic.”
In addition to her degree in English, Pradel has studied Spanish and Chinese. She participated in the Erasmus program, a European student exchange program, as part of her university coursework and traveled to Finland. After graduation, she taught French at an all-girls school, Tudor Hall in England.
“I really enjoy using authentic material to teach, such as French advertisements, French newspaper articles or French movies,” Pradel said. “I think that the students are more interested by authentic materials because they convey a piece of French culture. They are always more attentive to a class taught with passion, so I try to motivate them with things that they can relate to.”
