School of Art Galleries to host exhibition

Sep 13, 2012 | General News, Liberal Arts

Louisiana Tech will feature works from two renowned artists in the School of Art Galleries Tuesday, Sept. 18 and continuing until Tuesday, Oct. 16.
The newly renamed F. Elizabeth Bathea Gallery will feature artist Jungeun Lee, and the Mary Wilfred Moffett Gallery will display works by Brad Wreyford. Lee will speak at 5 p.m. Sept. 18, followed by a reception at 6 p.m., and Wreyford will speak at 5 p.m. Oct. 16.  Both talks will take place in the School of Art.
Lee was born and raised in South Korea, and her pieces embody the story of Korean women sexually enslaved by the Japanese Imperial army during World War II. She said she aims to represent the Comfort Women, or Korean sex slaves, through metaphors.
Wreyford is originally from north Louisiana and works now in south Louisiana. His recent works of painted still life are on horizontal canvases organized to represent a passing of time.
Each artist will display five of his or her works. Admission is free. For more information, call the School of Art at 318-257-3909 or visit the School of Art online at www.art.latech.edu.
