Open Letter from President Dan Reneau – Tech vs. Texas A&M

Oct 17, 2012 | General News

Dear Bulldog Fans and Friends,
Last Saturday at Shreveport’s Independence Stadium was another red-letter day for Louisiana Tech University.  In addition to an amazing football game and an incredible demonstration of determination and perseverance by our players and coaches, I also saw the Bulldog Nation – students, faculty, staff, alumni, friends, and supporters alike – come together like never before and show the entire nation that our team and our university can compete with anyone in country.
The pride and passion of the Tech Family – before, during, and after the game – was palpable and unlike anything I have seen in my 25+ years as president.  The sea of red and blue that engulfed all of northwest Louisiana and the camaraderie of generations of Bulldog fans was on display for all to see.  The media coverage we received, the comments from community leaders, and even the number of compliments I received from Texas A&M fans, was a result of the pride and passion you showed for your university.
Bulldogs are known for their loyalty, perseverance, courage and dignified demeanor.  Our team and our fans embodied each of those characteristics in Shreveport, and I was proud to have been a part of it.  I hope you are as proud of your representation of Louisiana Tech as I am.
On behalf of our campus and alumni communities, I would like to thank each fan and every supporter who came out to cheer on and to Fight, Fight, Fight for Ole’ Red and Blue!  The impacts of your participation and patronage in Shreveport will reach far beyond those of this single football game.  Once again, we have demonstrated our commitment to making a difference in and contributing to the betterment of the entire region.
I hope you will continue to join us in Joe Aillet Stadium and be a part of what is shaping up to be a historic season for Bulldog football.  Thank you, once again, for your loyal and impassioned support for our student-athletes, coaches, athletics programs, and university.
We ARE Bulldogs!
President Dan Reneau
