For the second time in the past week, Louisiana Tech University has been recognized nationally for providing its students and graduates with an outstanding value for their investment in higher education.

Affordable Colleges Online released their national rankings Tuesday, of the “Low Cost Colleges with High Starting Salaries for Graduates” with Louisiana Tech landing at No. 17 in the nation.  The rankings show Louisiana Tech students paying tuition costs of approximately $4,189 per year and graduating with an average starting salary of $45,900.

Louisiana Tech also placed highest among the six state universities ranked which included LSU at 22, McNeese State at 34, University of New Orleans at 35, the University of Louisiana at Monroe at 41 and Southeastern Louisiana at 58.

“We continue to be encouraged by and appreciative of the national recognition we’re receiving for both meeting and exceeding the value that our students and graduates have come to expect from a Louisiana Tech diploma,” said Louisiana Tech President Dan Reneau.  “It’s truly a credit to our faculty who work so hard to ensure that each and every student who graduates from Louisiana Tech is armed with the skills, knowledge and experiences needed to become strong contributors and leaders in their industries.”

This most recent ranking by Affordable Colleges Online follows last week’s release of AdvisorOne’s list of the Top 25 universities in the nation who are providing graduates with the best returns on their investments (ROI.)  Louisiana Tech was the only university in the state to make the list with a ranking of No. 21.

Affordable Colleges Online is an online resource designed to educate potential students and their parents about their options for obtaining a college degree and, most importantly, their options for paying for one.  According to the methodology for the rankings, all schools are four-year, fully-accredited public institutions.  In-state tuition for these colleges starts at less than $5,000 per year with starting salaries for graduates averaging more than $40,000 per year.  They also looked at mid-career salary averages as well as the overall return on investment for the degree.

“In this climate of soaring higher education costs, prospective students should know that it’s quite possible to obtain a great education that lands them a well-paying job, but at a very affordable price,” says Affordable Colleges Online founder Dan Schuessler. “With a total tuition investment of about $20,000, graduates from these schools leave with the skills and education needed to earn high starting salaries in great careers.”

Affordable Colleges Online used data from sources such as the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), the Integrated Postsecondary Data System (IPEDS), Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education, and PayScale.com to analyze over 4,000 public institutions throughout the United States.

In its 2012-2013 College Salary Report, PayScale.com ranked Louisiana Tech No. 1 among Louisiana’s public and private universities in starting salaries for recent graduates.  Tech also ranked No. 15 in the Central South region for starting salaries for recent graduates.  The Central South region includes public and private institutions from Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, and Kentucky.
