Louisiana Tech business alum Kenny Guillot will present the eighth annual Marbury Lecture, 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Davis Auditorium of the College of Business building.

Guillot is vice president and resident director of Merrill Lynch in Monroe where he began his career in 2004 as a financial advisor.

The lecture, open to all Louisiana Tech students and the public, is part of the annual William Ardis Marbury, Jr. and Virginia Lomax Marbury Lecture Series hosted by the College of Business and Cedar Creek School.

Prior to his lecture in the evening, Guillot will make a presentation at 9 a.m. to Cedar Creek School students, Future Business Leaders Club members and to faculty members of all Lincoln Parish schools. 

“As a lifelong resident of the northeast Louisiana, and a graduate of Louisiana Tech University, I am honored to speak at the Marbury Lecture Series,” Guillot said.  “The Marburys and their family both past and present are recognized for their business acumen in Ruston and I have tremendous respect for them as fellow business people.

“I am extremely pleased to have the opportunity to speak to the students of Cedar Creek School as well as Louisiana Tech University. I am looking forward to sharing my experiences as they relate to business ethics and the free enterprise system.”

Guillot received his finance degree from Louisiana Tech, is a lifelong resident of northeast Louisiana and is active in various local civic and charitable organizations.

The William Ardis Marbury, Jr. and Virginia Lomax Marbury Lecture Series began in 2006. The couple, both Louisiana Tech graduates, established William A. Marbury & Company, Inc., a managing general insurance agency. This corporation grew to be the largest agency in Louisiana, and one of the largest in the South. 

The general agency was sold in the 1950s to Commercial Union Insurance Company with the Ruston branch remaining the company’s largest in the country. In 1959, the Marburys and their associates founded Bankers Life of Louisiana, which became the largest credit life insurance writer in the state.

Today, the Marbury companies continue to thrive in Ruston, serving the banking, investment and insurance sectors.
