Chesapeake Energy Corporation has awarded Louisiana Tech University with a $5,000 scholarship donation to fund the continuing education of engineering and science students.

“Chesapeake is proud to partner with Louisiana Tech, the state’s top engineering program,” said Paul Pratt, director of government relations in the Haynesville Shale for Chesapeake.  “Through this scholarship, we are able to support students as they train to be the future leaders of our industry.  As domestic energy production grows, these individuals will be at the forefront of developing both the Haynesville Shale and other oil and gas formations.”
Selection criteria for the scholarship are based on financial need and the student’s involvement in community activities.  The recipient must also be a registered full-time student in the College of Engineering and Science and possess at least a 2.75 grade point average.
“The College is grateful for Chesapeake’s continued support of our engineering and science students. Scholarships like these provide valuable financial assistance to our students so that they can be successful in achieving their academic goals at Louisiana Tech,” added College of Engineering and Science Interim Dean Dr. Hisham Hegab.
“The quest for new ideas and higher levels of performance is accomplished through higher education and we are grateful to companies like Chesapeake who recognize that.”
