Louisiana Tech’s Student Government Association (SGA) will host a 5K run, as part of Homecoming Week 2013, to benefit the Domestic Abuse Resistance Team (DART) and their mission to protect, empower, and advocate for victims of and those impacted by domestic violence in north Louisiana.

The 5K run will start at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 14 at the Argent Pavilion, located between Joe Aillet Stadium and the Thomas Assembly Center, on the Louisiana Tech campus. Registration will open at 6:00 p.m. with a cost of $15 for students and $20 for community members.  Participants will receive a t-shirt and all proceeds will go to DART.

A speaker from DART in Ruston will address and thank the runners before the event and SGA has ordered lanterns/luminaries to release in honor of the victims of domestic violence.  DART is a non-profit organization whose mission is twofold: to protect, empower, and advocate for all victims and their children in north central Louisiana who are touched by domestic and dating violence, and to offer and implement public education programs regarding the far-reaching consequences of domestic and dating violence.

For more information regarding the 5K run, contact the Louisiana Tech SGA Office at (318) 257-4565 or sga@latech.edu.
