Louisiana Tech University’s Stone Theatre is proud to present its version of “Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp,” directed by Paul B. Crook, associate professor of theatre, and featuring Louisiana Tech theatre students and children from throughout north central Louisiana.

The show will run January 31-February 2, 2014.

Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp was adapted for the stage by Michele L. Vacca, from the original collection of Arabian Nights tales, and produced by Special Arrangement with “CLASSICS ON STAGE!” of Chicago.  Louisiana Tech’s production will be assistant-directed by theatre graduate students Stephanie Hart, Marian Fields, Molly Page and Brennan Beams.

In addition to the Tech theatre students, several children from north central Louisiana are cast in this production and will play the roles of Dinazad, Morgiana, Marjanah, Zummurud, Shirin, Yunah, street urchins, street vendors, palace guards and palace servants.  These young actors and actresses have the invaluable opportunity to work with theatre professionals and students in a department hailed as “a unique area of excellence.”

“The recognition that we received certainly affirms the work we have done for many years and the quality of our programs,” said Dr. Ed Jacobs, dean emeritus of Louisiana Tech’s College of Liberal Arts.

Louisiana Tech’s Theatre Department consistently strives to reach all students, especially those who are not normally exposed to the arts, and introduce them to the joys of theatre. Without a doubt, Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp is a thrilling experience that students and the public will not want to miss, and groups are encouraged to get their tickets early before they sell out.

Ticket prices for non-season ticket holders are $7.00 for students, $10.00 per person for groups of ten or more, $20.00 for adults, and $15.00 for youth (14 and under) and seniors (65 and over.)  In addition to regular show times, a special matinee performance and exclusive “Adventures with Aladdin” event are available on Sunday, February 2 in Howard Auditorium.
