Last Thursday afternoon, a structure fire destroyed an off-campus block of apartments located south of California Avenue that was home to nine Louisiana Tech international students and three domestic students.  These students lost most or all of their belongings including essentials such as clothing, personal effects, books, documents, electronic files and computers.  Fortunately, all escaped the fire without injury and have been accounted for, however they all have been displaced and are in need of assistance from the Louisiana Tech Family and friends of the university and community.

Louisiana Tech University is coordinating its efforts to provide support for all 12 of these students, through its International Student Office.  We have already begun to receive donations from the campus and local communities to help these students in this critical time of need, but much more is still needed.

If you would like to lend a helping hand to these students, we are asking that you donate retail gift cards, in any denomination.  This will allow the students to purchase the essential goods that they lost and begin the road to recovery.

Donations can be dropped off at the Louisiana Tech International Student Office in Tolliver Hall-Room 229, or mailed it to P.O. Box 3037, Ruston, LA 71272.  For more information on how you can help, contact the Louisiana Tech International Student Office at (318) 257-4321 or iso@latech.edu.
