Louisiana Tech earns Military Friendly School designation
Victory Media Inc., the premier media entity for military personnel transitioning to civilian life, has named Louisiana Tech University to its Military Friendly Schools list for the second consecutive year.
The 2015 Military Friendly Schools list honors the top 20 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools in the country that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members, veterans and spouses as students and ensure their success on campus. Schools on the list exhibit leading practices in the recruitment and retention of students with military experience, and have programs and policies for student support on campus, academic accreditation, credit policies, flexibility and other services to those who served.
“We’re honored to have earned this distinction for a second consecutive year,” said Monte Parker, director of Louisiana Tech-Barksdale and a 30-year U.S. Air Force veteran. “It is a real pleasure to serve the men and women sacrifice so much for this country. We take pride in easing their transition into the classroom and assisting with the educational process through to graduation.”
In addition to the selected institutions, the Military Friendly Schools list for 2015 features interactive tools and search functionality to help military students find the best school to suit their unique needs and preferences.
“Inclusion on the 2015 list of Military Friendly Schools shows Louisiana Tech’s commitment to providing a supportive environment for military students,” said Sean Collins, vice president at Victory Media and a nine-year U.S. Navy veteran. “The need for education is growing and our mission is to provide the military community with transparent, world-class resources to assist in their search for schools.”
According to its website, Victory Media is a veteran-owned business founded in 2001 that has led the industry as a ratings entity for over a decade, surveying tens of thousands of institutions and adjudicating lists that capture best practices in recruitment and retention of military personnel as civilian employees, students and franchisees. The Military Friendly School list is published annually in G.I. Jobs magazine.
