Louisiana Tech graduates earn highest average starting salaries in state
— SmartAsset rankings also place Louisiana Tech No. 1 in state for best value —
SmartAsset, a financial technology firm based in New York City, has ranked Louisiana Tech University No. 1 among all public and private universities in Louisiana for highest average starting salaries for college graduates and best college education value.
Graduates from Louisiana Tech earn an average starting salary of $49,400, followed by Louisiana State University at $47,300, Xavier University of New Orleans at $44,600, McNeese State University at $43,600 and Tulane University at $43,100. Louisiana Tech earned a spot in the Top 140 nationally in average starting salaries coming in at No. 137.
In ranking the best college education values in Louisiana, SmartAsset again placed Louisiana Tech No. 1 followed by Tulane University, University of Louisiana at Monroe, University of Louisiana at Lafayette and McNeese State University. Nationally, Louisiana Tech ranked No. 53 in best education value.

SmartAsset analyzed tuition, student living costs, scholarship and grant offerings, student retention rate and starting salary were used in calculating the best value colleges and universities. Data for the average starting salaries and best value rankings were pulled from the National Center for Educational Statistics, Payscale.com and College InSight.
These latest salary and value rankings come on the heels of PayScale.com’s 2015-2016 College Salary Report released at the end of August where Louisiana Tech ranked No. 1 in the state for average mid-career salaries for graduates, No. 70 in the nation among public institutions, and No. 91 in the nation among research universities. Louisiana Tech also ranked as the state’s top institution in PayScale.com’s College ROI Report released in March earning the state’s highest ranking in both annual percent ROI and 20-year net ROI.
