Louisiana Tech, LDCC sign tuition reduction agreement
Louisiana Tech University and Louisiana Delta Community College (LDCC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that will allow full-time faculty and staff of LDCC to enroll at Louisiana Tech University for undergraduate or graduate programs at a reduced tuition rate. The agreement also enables full-time Louisiana Tech employees to enroll in programs at LDCC at a reduced cost.
Louisiana Tech President Les Guice was joined by LDCC Chancellor Dennis Epps Tuesday on the Tech campus to officially sign the MOU.
“The strengthening of our higher education institutions and the impacts we have on the State of Louisiana is dependent on the growth of our higher education professionals,” said Louisiana Tech President Les Guice. “This latest partnership between Louisiana Tech and LDCC will provide new opportunities for faculty and staff at both institutions, and will enable them to continue to serve our higher education community and further contribute to the growth of our region.”
Along with the reduced tuition benefit, the agreement helps LDCC to meet SACSCOC accreditation criteria that says employees must hold certain higher education credentials. The MOU outlines programs that Louisiana Tech offers that LDCC employees may complete in order to meet the SACSCOC requirements.
“This partnership ensures that Louisiana Delta Community College and Louisiana Tech University provide faculty, staff and students access to quality educational opportunities to enhance our community and our region,” said Dr. Terry McConathy, vice president for academic affairs at Louisiana Tech.
To take advantage of the reduced tuition benefit, LDCC employees must satisfy normal admissions requirements for enrollment at Louisiana Tech, be a degree-seeking student, and employed on a full-time basis at LDCC. The same criteria are required for Louisiana Tech employees enrolling in programs at LDCC.
