BestColleges.com ranks Louisiana Tech No. 1 overall in state
Out of Louisiana’s 23 accredited four-year public colleges and universities and nine private institutions, Louisiana Tech has been ranked No. 1 by BestColleges.com for 2017.
All eligible institutions were ranked on a 100-point scale. A perfect score of 100 is earned by ranking No. 1 for all ranking factors. Tech led the state with a 75.64, most notably for its leadership in research and cybertechnology and its diversity overall.
To compile its rankings, the online site uses statistical data that includes academic quality (admissions, enrollment, graduate, and retention rates), affordability (average net price, loan default rate, percentage of students taking loans), and online competency. The rankings reflect the most recent data available from the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) and College Navigator, both of which are hosted by the National Center for Education Statistics.
BestColleges.com partners with HigherEducation.com to “provide students with direct connections to schools and programs suiting their educational goals through our program rankings. Our rankings are intended to inform and guide prospective students toward institutions that provide a quality education and a meaningful learning experience at an affordable cost.”
In December, Kiplinger, the nation’s most recognized publisher of business forecasts and personal finance advice, ranked Tech first among Louisiana’s public colleges and universities in the magazine’s Best College Values 2018 report. This is the third year in a row that Kiplinger ranked the University first in the state.
The University enrolled a record 12,873 students for Fall Quarter. And for the seventh consecutive year, in the mid-September release of U.S. News & World Report’s 2018 Best Colleges list, Tech was listed in the report’s highest tier of “National Universities.” Louisiana Tech is one of only two public institutions in the state to achieve the ranking.
