Louisiana Tech University’s College of Education SciTEC and UTeachTech partnered with the National Integrated Cyber Education Research Center (NICERC) to sponsor the STEAM/STEM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math; science, technology, engineering, and math) and Education Conference June 6-8 in Honolulu, Hawaii.

“Louisiana Tech is committed to being a global leader in STEAM education through innovating teaching, community impacts, and disseminating best practices to our network of partners,” said Dr. Dave Norris, Tech’s Chief Research and Innovation Officer.

In addition to sponsoring the conference, Louisiana Tech faculty members offered their expertise in creating STEAM education networks to enhance PK-16 practices in the classroom and beyond. Participants in a panel focused on creating a peer network to enhance the educational experience for students of all ages included Dr. Don Schillinger, Glenn Larson, Diane Madden, Dr. Laura Bostick, and Chris Campbell.

“Being able to share the meaningful work done at Louisiana Tech University in STEAM/STEM education on the international stage is an honor,” Keith-Vincent said. “The opportunity to do so is a testament to the outstanding job our faculty, staff, parents, district partners, industry leaders, community collaborators, and outstanding students do in this space. We hope this is the first of many collaborative international conference hosting opportunities to bring together dynamic and creative educators and innovators.”

The 8th Annual STEM/STEAM and Education Conference worked to stimulate competitiveness and our nation’s future economic prosperity through encouraging and inspiring academics in the study of STEM/STEAM and Education fields.
