Teacher Prep Inspection-US (TPI-US) has recognized Louisiana Tech University’s College of Education for its innovative practices in teacher training on elementary literacy. 

“Louisiana Tech University’s elementary literacy faculty have crafted a course of study that strategically builds throughout the sequence and leverages local K-12 partnerships and field experiences to support their candidates in learning to teach elementary literacy,” TPI-US said. 

In the elementary content knowledge section of the PRAXIS exam, about 74 percent of Louisiana Tech elementary education majors score above the state and national averages.

In collaboration with programs across the country, TPI-US has highlighted promising practices for each judgment area of the TPI-US Inspection Framework in order to disseminate information about practices that show the potential to strengthen programs. Information on these practices is shared to help other teacher preparation programs achieve similar results elsewhere.
