Professor wins physics education grant

Assistant Professor Rakitha Beminiwattha has been awarded a grant to support projects related to education, outreach and career development related to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (Jefferson Lab).

Beminiwattha, who is with the Louisiana Tech University Physics program, was formerly a research associate with the Jefferson Lab, which is a world-leading nuclear physics research facility in Newport News, Virginia.

The grant will be used to support the JSA Promising Young Scientist Program at Louisiana Tech, which works to increase outreach for the field in this area.
