Time to register for one – or more – of Louisiana Tech’s Summer Camps

It’s Summer Camp Season at Louisiana Tech and time to register for some educational and athletic summer fun.

Below are some of Tech’s camps, both academic and athletic. More information is on the way as plans for other camps are finalized.

Academic camps

May 28-June 12

MASH, or Medical Applications of Science for Health, is a two-week summer camp that introduces high school students who are currently in the 11th and 12th grades to health careers. Tech’s Department of Health Informatics and Information Management hosts this camp for students who apply for and are selected to participate. Those students receive three hours of college credit for the program. Apply through the Bayou North Area Health Education Center (AHEC). May 27-June 1

CyberDiscovery is a week-long camp experience at Tech that guides students and teachers through an exploration in issues around technologies that enable movement of information. Activities include programming, robotics, a cryptographic treasure hunt, cyber policy and ethics discussions, cyber storylines, and computer-aided design of cyber-forts. These activities are focused on building teamwork and critical thinking skills while promoting an understanding of the complex, computer-based world in which we live.

Allhigh school sophomores are allowed to participate; one team consists of six students and two teachers from a school. Teachers from any discipline are welcome, but it is recommended that schools send one teacher with a Liberal Arts background, and one with a Math/Science background.Email coesugs@latech.edu, the University’s College of Engineering and Science, for more information and to resister. 

June 3-8, June 17-22

AICS (Analysis and Investigation of Cyber Scenarios) is a scenario-based training model with a cyber-oriented national intelligence focus, consisting of two parts. These two parts are executed in the form of a week-long camp hosted at Tech.

The program is currently employed for high school rising juniors who are interested in computer science, mathematics, and liberal arts. Participating teachers will also gain a deeper appreciation for the math,science, and liberal arts subjects that they teach.
