Tom Hoover has joined Louisiana Tech as the University’s Chief Information Officer (CIO).

Tom HooverHoover, who is currently pursuing his doctorate in Educational Leadership at Louisiana Tech, earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of California-Davis and his Master of Public Policy degree from Pepperdine University. He most recently served as CIO and Dean of the Library at the University of Louisiana-Monroe.

“Tom’s experience in the position of CIO and his vision for the technological backbone for our 21st Century Campus are inspiring,” said Tech President Dr. Les Guice. “We look forward to his working to help create a space where our students, faculty, and staff – as well as visitors to campus – can engage in conversation and discovery that’s facilitated by the latest technology.”

As Louisiana Tech renovates established facilities and creates new spaces for living and learning on campus, the need for a leader on campus to help ensure the University stays on the cutting edge in relation to technology was apparent.

“I look forward to working collaboratively across the enterprise to ensure that Tech is a leader in providing what our students, faculty, and staff need to succeed in the classroom and beyond,” Hoover said. “I’m currently meeting with other leaders to begin to prioritize projects for the future and pledge that our department will continue to drive innovation at each of our locations.”

The new CIO joined Louisiana Tech on Jan. 6. Hoover lives in Ruston with his wife and six children.
