Dr. Chris Martin, dean of Louisiana Tech University’s College of Business, recently announced the “Just Business” grant award recipients for 2020.

“I’m grateful to our alumni and friends for investing in these worthwhile projects again this year,” said Dr. Martin. “Their support allowed us to award four grants to impactful projects totaling $17,000. The projects selected this year truly support our mission to connect business with technology and innovation.”

“Just Business” is a giving circle comprised of College of Business alumni and friends who pool financial resources, then jointly decide how the funds will be invested. The group awards grants for student, staff, and faculty projects that advance the mission of the College of Business.

The 2020 recipients are as follows:

Dr. Sean Dwyer
Funding will be used to start a Toastmasters International charter for College of Business students and partially subsidize membership fees for ten charter members.

Dr. Bill McCumber and Darrell Eddy
Grant monies will provide funding for hardware and software for a second supercomputer for big data projects with global reach, building upon the successful utilization of the current supercomputer.

Dr. Otis Gilley
Funding will support student travel to present undergraduate research at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas Economic Scholars Program.

Dr. Patrick Scott
Funding will provide a subscription renewal for IMPLAN software used in the Regional Economic Analysis (ECON 425) course to simulate economic impacts at the state, parish, and municipal levels.
