Endowed Professorship in Accountancy established in College of Business
An anonymous benefactor has established an Endowed Professorship in Accountancy within Louisiana Tech University’s College of Business. The professorship will provide critical research support to a distinguished faculty member in the School of Accountancy.
To further enhance the impact of this endowed professorship, the Louisiana Education Quality Support Fund, established by the State of Louisiana, generously matches gifts of $80,000 with state funds of $20,000 to create $100,000 professorships.
“Our School of Accountancy is one of the oldest and most respected accounting programs in Louisiana, consistently developing outstanding students and faculty who impact the global accounting community in meaningful ways,” said Dr. Chris Martin, dean of the College of Business. “We’re eternally grateful to our donors for their support of this endowed professorship. The impact is far-reaching for the School of Accountancy as well as the College and University.”
This endowed professorship will provide funds to recognize the contributions of a faculty member while pushing the frontiers of their research. Additionally, the funds will propel the designee’s scholarship by supporting database upgrades, software, equipment, travel, and other research and professional development needs.
“Professorships, like the one our anonymous donor recently established, allow the College to attract and retain top faculty, which in turn is beneficial to our students,” said Dr. Martin. “One professor can touch hundreds of lives through the courses they teach, the students they mentor, or through their own scholarly academic research.”
Offering the undergraduate accounting degree and a fully integrated Master of Accountancy (MAcc) degree, the School of Accountancy was one of the first accounting programs in the U.S. to receive accreditation and the very first in Louisiana to hold supplemental accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International.
Louisiana Tech’s accounting programs are designed to help students develop core accounting and business knowledge, as well as the analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills needed to prepare them for the CPA exam and for a successful career as a professional accountant.
