Times Higher Education honors Louisiana Tech Engineering programs

Nov 16, 2020 | Engineering and Science, Rankings

Louisiana Tech University was ranked one of the best places in the world to study engineering in the recent Times Higher Education World University Rankings for 2021.

One of only two universities in the state to be recognized for achievement in the engineering disciplines, Louisiana Tech was honored for its leadership in general engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, mechanical and aerospace engineering, civil engineering and chemical engineering.

“Faculty and staff within the College of Engineering and Science are passionate about creating an atmosphere in which students not only learn, but thrive,” said Dr. Hisham Hegab, Dean of the College of Engineering and Science (COES). “Our faculty and staff have worked hard to adapt our project-based learning models so that they are effective in distance learning as well as in-person classes. I am extremely proud of their work and excited to see their efforts recognized.”

The ranking uses data on teaching, research, citations, international outlook, and industry income to determine a university’s success in the engineering subject area.

“With Covid-19 disrupting student decision-making about where, when or what to study, these rankings demonstrate that there are many places in the world to achieve a first-class education, either at home or abroad,” said Ellie Bothwell, Global Rankings Editor and International Reporter, THE. “With more institutions than ever included, it’s testament to the growing strength of the higher education sector across the globe.”
