It’s a home run for knowledge.

Dr. David SzymanskiLouisiana Tech’s Dr. David Szymanski, kinesiology department chair in the College of Education, has been asked to serve as a senior contributor to SportsEDTV.

Szymanski, who also serves as the director of baseball performance at Tech, will share his expert knowledge with SportsEDTV through blogs, vlogs, and videos. This partnership, while beneficial for SportsEDTV, will also garner attention for Szymanski, his students and the Louisiana Tech community at large.

“Being a senior contributor for SportsEdTV will keep me motivated to stay abreast of any and all baseball-related training, articles and research that will help contribute to enhancing the Louisiana Tech’s baseball players’ performance and provide up-to-date evidence-based knowledge to students and players,” he said. “This brings real-world experience to the classroom that translates to practical experience for students.”

For students, Szymanski said this partnership would help them in the professional world.

“I am hopeful that being on this platform will encourage others in the baseball world to reach out to me to expand our knowledge, share ideas, and create research opportunities for our department and internship and job opportunities for our students,” he said.

While SportsEDTV already has two other baseball senior contributors, what Szymanski offers is his research and academic prowess being a professor and the director of baseball performance for a Division I university. He has conducted or contributed to more than 70 scientific investigations and reviews examining various aspects of sports performance.

“SportsEdTV is interested in blogs and vlogs to enhance the knowledge of their viewers. I am willing to help in any way possible to provide additional content for viewers.” Szymanski said. “ Both formats should allow me to share coaching and research material that supports current best practices for baseball players that will hopefully make an impact. It should be fun and exciting to create.”

Dr. Don Schillinger, dean of the COE, said he is not surprised Szymanski was requested to lend his expertise to SportsEDTV.

In addition to leading the department of kinesiology, Dr. David Szymanski is a prominent researcher and scholar,” Schillinger said. “Showcasing his talents and expertise through SportsEDTV should attract additional interest in the quality programs and research taught and conducted by our exceptional faculty and staff. For that, I am both enthusiastic and grateful.”
