Tech to present four times at HUIC

Louisiana Tech faculty and friends will make four presentations at the Hawaii University International Conference this week.

This year Tech is again co-hosting the conference with friends, including CYBER.ORG, whose goal is to empower educators to teach cyber confidently, resulting in students with the skills and passion needed to succeed in the cyber workforce.

Here are Tech’s scheduled presentations.

  • GEARing UP for Parent, Teacher, and Student Success:
    • Dr. Tireka Cobb, Louisiana Board of Regents (Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance Division), LA GEAR UP Director;
    • Tech College of Education Dean Dr. Don Schillinger;
    • Dr. Susanne Thompson, VP of Discovery Education;
    • Nathan Lippe of Coursera; and
    • Tech’s Dr. Lindsey Vincent of SciTEC.
  • STEAMing Towards Success through Experiential Learning Related to Infectious Disease:
    • Nick Bustamante, professor, Tech’s School of Design;
    • Dr. Jamie Newman, associate professor of biology at Tech;
    • Dr. Todd Brown, Co-Creator of Operation Outbreak and Founder and President of Inspire Project; and
    • Schillinger and Vincent.
  • Discovering Synergies in Ed Tech with Discovery and Louisiana Tech:
    • Schillinger, Vincent, and Tom Hoover, Chief Information Officer at Tech.
