College of Business kicks off annual Inside the C-Suite series with “Opportunities Captured”

Matt Herlevic, ’91, will deliver “Opportunities Captured,” the year’s first Inside the C-Suite lecture series for Louisiana Tech University’s College of Business on Friday, Sept. 17, at 11 a.m. in room 126 in the College of Business. This free event is open to the public.

“Matt’s background in building high performance teams, transformational change, strategic innovation, and developing new business ventures makes him the perfect speaker to open this years’ Inside the C-Suite series,” said Dr. Chris Martin, Dean of the College of Business. “I’m excited for our students to engage with this outstanding alumnus who has seen opportunities where others have not.”

Herlevic, who graduated with a B.S. in accounting from the College of Business, spent over 25 years as an executive for Walmart and Sam’s Club. His experience includes roles in internal audit, operations, marketing, and management. Today, Herlevic is co-founder for Act II Capital Holdings, a venture capital and private equity firm in Bentonville, Arkansas.

The College’s Inside the C-Suite lecture series provides a forum for top corporate leaders from some of the nation’s most prominent companies to share their views on topics of societal, academic, and professional importance. The series strives to stimulate insightful conversation on current issues by providing a platform for high-level executives to speak about cutting-edge issues, elaborate on trends, share wisdom, and provide important career inspiration and advice for students. Topics cover a variety of themes in core business subjects such as economic climate, ethics, corporate responsibility, leadership, globalization, strategic planning, entrepreneurship, technology, innovation, and diversity.

With focuses on the College’s core academic themes of technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship, this co-curricular program is designed to complement and expand on what students are learning in the classroom.
