School of Music Flute Studio to host Fall is for Fluting
Louisiana Tech University’s School of Music Flute Studio will host Fall is for Fluting Sept. 28-29. The event will feature a special recital with Nicole Chamberlain designed for flute players, composers, those interested in the music industry, and music lovers at 7 p.m. Sept. 28 in Howard Auditorium.
Chamberlain, who will perform her original compositions, is a composer and flutist with a varied career in the arts. She earned bachelor’s degrees in Music Composition and Digital Media at the University of Georgia, and her original compositions are influenced by storytelling and visual imagery from her former day job as a web animator and designer.
Fall is for Fluting will also feature a flute masterclass with Chamberlain and two Louisiana Tech flute students on Sept. 28. She will also present a talk titled “The Hustle,” which sheds light on how musicians can make a living doing what they love.
Chamberlain will also conduct a workshop with the Louisiana Tech Flute Choir on Sept. 29. The ensemble will rehearse one of her original pieces in preparation for their own recital Nov. 4.
The public is invited to attend both the masterclass and concert for free. For more information, contact Professor Shayla Blake at sblake@latech.edu.
