Auditions for the Louisiana Tech School of Theatre’s production of the dramedy “Church and State” are Dec. 6-7, 6:30 p.m. in Arthur Stone Theatre.

Everyone is invited to participate; cast members are not required to be a major or minor in the School of Theatre. Those trying out are asked to prepare a contemporary comedic monologue of no more than 60 seconds.

Written by Jason Odell Williams, “Church and State” is about faith, doubt, and politics as Senator Charlie Whitmore, his wife Sarah, and his campaign team fight their way through the final days of a tight election in the middle of a tragic event of gun violence. Will they grow in humor and grace, or spiral into self-doubt? And how will the characters invite the audience to grapple with its own ideas of humanity in hard times?

Live performances will be Feb. 1-6 in Stone Theatre.

University guidelines concerning COVID-19 regulations will be followed. All attendees must wear a mask indoors and have proof of a negative COVID-19 test within the past 72 hours or provide proof of COVID vaccination.
