High school juniors and seniors who are interested in pursuing a career in education have the opportunity to learn more about Louisiana Tech University’s College of Education during Engage Education, a preview event planned for Jan. 28.

ornamental imageCurrent students and faculty in the Department of Curriculum, Instruction, and Leadership (CIL) have partnered with counselors and administrators in local school districts to connect with potential future educators.

“We’ve been working to develop Engage Education to engage our future students in an exciting, positive, conference-like atmosphere,” said Dr. Dustin Hebert, CIL Chair. “Our current students have helped plan this event to be engaging and informative for future teachers.”

Prospective students will participate in workshops with current students, take campus tours, and have a chance to win a scholarship in the College of Education. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions about classes, field experiences, and balancing a challenging workload as they progress through college.

“Each session is designed to show future Bulldogs the engaging and exciting parts of learning to be an effective educator and have a positive impact on their students,” Hebert said.

Registration deadline is Jan. 20, and interested students can see their high school’s counselor to register. For additional information, call Dr. Dustin Whitlock at 318.257.2374.
