School of Music professors’ work showcased

Professors at Louisiana Tech School of Music have recently been soaring to new heights in their musical endeavors. 

This weekend, Dr. Gregory Lyons, Associate Professor of Music and the James Alvey Smith Endowed Professor, will make an appearance on Louisiana Public Broadcasting’s “Art Rocks!” program. Listeners can tune in at 8:30 p.m. April 29 and at 5:30 p.m. April 30.

Lyons will speak on the upcoming event, New Music on the Bayou Summer Festival which will take place June 1-4. 

The event is a collaboration of contemporary composers who inspire an exchange of ideas and the creation of new works from a wide variety of styles and influences.

Dr. Cain Budds, an Associate Professor of Guitar and Music Theory, just released a CD recorded by Spring 2021 Music Industry Studies graduates in the Louisiana Tech recording studio. 

The CD will be distributed by Albany Records and tracks from the album will be featured on “Classical Guitar Alive,” a syndicated radio show from PRX that is broadcast on 200+ domestic and foreign terrestrial radio stations, in late May or the first week of June.
