School of Agricultural Sciences and Forestry sponsors certification in slack water rescue
Louisiana Tech University’s School of Agricultural Sciences and Forestry will sponsor an opportunity for Louisiana Animal Responder certification in slack water training June 29-30 on South Campus at the Tech Farm. The 16-hour course will provide training and instruction for emergencies requiring animal search and rescue in slack-water conditions.
This training opportunity will be led by Eric Thompson and Dr. Matt Welborn. Thompson currently serves as National Alliance of State Animal and Agriculture Emergency Programs President, Code 3 Director, and Senior Director of Animal Search and Rescue. Welborn, a Professor of Food Animal Medicine at LSU’s School of Veterinary Medicine (LSU-SVM), is an active participant in disaster-response activities in Louisiana and serves as an instructor for the LSU-SVM Disaster Training and Response Program.
The event has a $50 registration fee, with registration waivers available for LSU and Louisiana Tech students.
The course is continuing education credit approved for DVM, RVT, and First Responder, and is supported by continued funding from The Foundation for the Horse.
